Choose to be Proudly South African

This weekend we celebrate Heritage Day, where all over the country South Africans proudly gather with friends and family to celebrate the diverse cultural heritage that makes South Africa the ‘Rainbow Nation’

As a country we may have many challenges that face us but despite this, we should remind ourselves that we have a nation bursting with pride and talent. We at Choose Me are lucky to host some local and special up and coming talent on our site and being the weekend of celebrating all things South African we thought we would introduce you to a few of them!

Candice is the talented young face of Bacon Bikinis. At the ripe age of 17 whilst Candice’s friends were busy surfing and having a jol, Candice was putting her entrepreneurial skills to work early and building a Swimwear brand. Her intent was to provide South African women with gorgeously designed swimwear for an affordable price that wouldn’t break the bank. 4 years on Candice has achieved just that with fabulous pieces starting at only R199.

Kim is another young talented beauty and is the face behind and sometimes in front of the camera at Went Active. Kim’s drive behind the building the brand was a positive outlet for her creativity which saw her through some challenging events in her personal life. She designs and manufactures her beautiful activewear pieces in Capetown and is proud to call the mother city her home.

The beautiful duo behind Move Pretty certainly live up to the brands name. This proudly South African Athleisure brand was founded by Mari and Annelize. Mari, a Double Olympic South African Triathlete, paired with the talented and creative Fashion designer Annelize to create something unique. They set out to provide South African women with “beautiful quality athleisure wear to inspire and empower them to live a healthy active life” With the business going from strength to strength, they are achieving just that. One of Annelize’s favourite things about what she does is “uplifting the local economy and running the business with a team of kick-ass girl bosses!”

Not forgetting our talented South African men, Dave is the founder of a cheeky sock company with a big social mission! Sexy Socks is adding social and environmental conscience to your wardrobe buy giving a pair of socks to a South African child in need for every pair you buy. Sexy Socks was born at a time where “boring socks were still the norm” and Dave was determined to bring a little outrageous to the shoes of South Africa! And now not only does Dave bring  “style to your neglected boring ankles”  he is also giving back to the country he loves.
