The best bras for a big bust (and how to choose yours)

We started Choose Me because we got tired of hearing "nothing in your size". After years of fitting full-bust ladies, here's what we know: there isn't one best bra for a big bust. There's the best bra for your shape, your outfit and your day. And all of it starts with the right size.

First, get the size right

No style can rescue the wrong size. Most of a bra's support comes from the band, so a band that's too loose means straps that dig in and a bust that sits too low. If you haven't measured in a while, start with our guide to measuring at home or the Find my Fit calculator.

Full cup: maximum coverage and support

A full cup covers the whole breast, with no spilling at the top or sides. It's a favourite for fuller busts and everyday comfort, and it works under almost anything.

Balcony: lift and a lovely rounded shape

Wide-set straps and a horizontal neckline that lifts. Great under square and round necklines, and often the prettiest bras in the drawer.

Side support: forward and centred

Side support panels gently bring everything forward and centre, so you get a rounded shape and less spread towards your arms. Look for them if you find your bust sits wide.

Minimiser: when you want your shirts to button

Non-padded, with a wide, flexible wire that shapes the bust closer to the body so it looks smaller. Blouses button up without gaping. Perfect for work.

Plunge: for low necklines

A deep V at the centre for more cleavage. Made for low necklines, and yes, there are plunge bras that genuinely hold a fuller bust.

Moulded and T-shirt bras: smooth under everything

Foam-lined cups give a smooth, rounded shape and nothing shows through a fitted top. They hide nipples without always adding size.

Non-wired: pure comfort

No wire at all. Support comes from the cut, fabric and construction. Ideal for long days at home, travel or anyone who has simply had enough of wires.

Strapless and multiway: yes, even for a big bust

All the support comes from the band, which is exactly why getting your band size right matters so much. Multiway straps go halter, crossover or one-shoulder for evening wear.

Our quick advice

  • Start with a full cup or balcony for everyday. They suit the most shapes.
  • Wire digging in at the side? Check it's sitting on your ribcage, not your breast tissue. Our underwire fit guide shows you how.
  • Every brand fits a little differently. Freya, Fantasie, Elomi, Goddess and Wacoal each have their own shapes, so if one doesn't suit you, another often will.
